FAQ
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is the percentage of light allowed through the automotive window film. The lower the percentage, the lower the amount of light transmitted through. 5% film allows 5% light through the film, while 70% allows 70% light through.
Window tint laws vary state by state, and it’s extremely important to check your state’s guidelines. As of December 1, 2025, North Carolina law requires window tint to allow 32% of light to pass through all windows on a sedan and requires the front 2 windows on SUVs/Trucks to meet this standard as well. Tint checks are no longer part of annual safety inspections, but tickets, fines, and violations can still be applied during traffic stops.
