FAQ
Choosing between paint protection film (PPF) and ceramic coating depends on your specific needs and preferences.
PPF provides excellent physical protection against scratches, chips, and other forms of damage due to its thicker, durable material. It offers a higher level of protection against road debris, rock chips, and other environmental hazards. However, it can be more expensive to install compared to ceramic coating.
On the other hand, ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to the vehicle’s exterior surfaces, forming a transparent layer that bonds with the paint. It provides protection against UV rays, chemical stains, and minor scratches, while also enhancing the gloss and depth of the paint. Ceramic coating offers ease of maintenance. However, it may not offer the same level of impact protection as PPF.
Ultimately, the choice between PPF and ceramic coating depends on your priorities, budget, and the level of protection you require for your vehicle. Some car owners opt for a combination of both PPF and ceramic coating to achieve comprehensive protection and enhancement of their vehicle’s appearance.
First 30 days
- Do not push or touch water spots in the film. Allow 14 days for the film to dry before returning to your Local dealer for a final inspection.
- Never touch exposed edges of the film. This can leave air pockets or debris under the film, which will cause damages to the adhesive.
- Avoid extreme heat, rain, and car washes for the first 14 days to allow the film to fully cure.
Ongoing maintenance
- Avoid using pressure washers, brushes, and car wash stations.
- When hand washing, use a microfiber mit or sponge. It is best to take your vehicle back to Mobile Detail Masters where it was installed so that they can advise you on proper care. MDM also has upkeep and maintenance plans that provide convenience and professional care for your PPF.
- To maintain the film’s appearance and prevent buildup on the edges, wash the vehicle at least once every two weeks.
- Never use a buffer or orbital polisher on paint protection film.
Waxing your car is not required prior to a PPF service. Mobile Detail Masters performs a single stage polish to the areas to be PPF’d. Depending on your vehicle’s condition, MDM may suggest some paint correction steps if necessary.
The KDX LUMI Paint Protection Film offers a 10-year warranty against cracking, delamination, and yellowing.
Paint protection film (PPF) provides excellent protection against many types of auto damage, particularly those caused by road debris, rock chips, insects, and minor scratches. However, it’s essential to recognize that PPF has its limitations, and it may not protect against all forms of auto damage. Here are some considerations:
Physical Damage: PPF is effective at preventing scratches, rock chips, and abrasions caused by flying debris, gravel, and other hazards encountered on the road.
Chemical Damage: PPF offers some resistance to stains and etching caused by bird droppings, insect splatter, tree sap, and road tar.
UV Damage: The KDX LUMI PPF includes UV inhibitors to help protect the vehicle’s paint from fading and oxidation due to sunlight exposure.
Impact Damage: While PPF can absorb some impact energy and protect against minor dings and scratches, it may not provide sufficient protection against more significant impacts, such as collisions or impacts from heavy objects.
